as said above, EF and EF-S lenses will fit on your 450D, no problem here. in fact, EF lenses can adapt to digital APS-C sensors (that’s the category of your camera) and full frame cameras. On the other hand, EF-S lenses will only fit with full frame cameras
All of Canon’s EF and EF-S lenses are fully compatible with your camera.
But, if you’re not getting the image results you want with this lens, you might want to consider a better one in the future (because it’s not a particularly good one).
It will work but with 2 caveats:
There will be a focal length crop factor of 1.6, meaning that the lens will behave more like a 110-470mm lens
This lens works best on film cameras, on a digital sensor it is prone to ghosting (caused by reflections from the sensor to the rear element and back) and pretty bad fringing (coloured halos).
I’s actually not bad up to 200mm (320mm effective) just pretty horrific after that.
Any Canon EF mount lens will fit a the Canon EF-S mount for cropped sensor dSLRs with all the electronics in the lens working fully, with focal lengths increased by 1.6x
I’m going to add a few more comments to this lens, yes while the 75-200 range of this lens is acceptable, when you put it next to one of the 70-200mm lenses (the Sigma f2.8, Canon f2.8 and Canon f4) you will realise they are in different worlds.
Canon produce 2 type of different mounting lens: EF-S & EF.
EF-S lens can only be attached on Canon camera body that has 1.6x cropping factor (xxxxD, xxxD, xxD).
EF lens can be attached on all Canon camera body.
Therefore, your 450D will absolutely compatible with Canon EF 75-300mm lens.
why not? if it’s a ef lens i definitely will fit.
