My wife got a Canon XSI Rebel Camera and the LCD monitor does not show what your are pointing at instead you have to use the view finder. Is there a menu option to change this so that you don’t have to use the view finder to see what you are taking a picture of?

When the camera is on a tripod. And you have to bend over to focus repeatedly. Imagine holding a camera that could be 3 or so (mine is 5) pounds at a foot away. It just doesn’t work. If it were a point and shoot with no optical viewfinder, then yes, that is what you have to do. It doesn’t work with a camera like this (and it was never used before in this manner until it came out merely a few years ago anyway.)

That’s called Live View, but it’s not like on P&S cameras, cause auto focus is much slower and you have to choose where it will auto focus by moving the square around. You can focus manually tho.
Somewhere in menu, you will see ‘LIVE VIEW’ or something similar, at the bottom of one menu. Click on it, and then click ENABLE. Then, when photographing, press SET button and voila, Live View is there.
Also, take a look a look your manual.
