i currently have a Canon Rebel XTI camera, i am interested in becoming a photographer. i am looking for a telescopic lens or telescopic zoom lens but dont know what to buy. i am try to zoom in at stuff like a boat on the ocean or wild life. can ayone help me.

The 70-300 lens is a good size for what you mentioned. There are several different choices from under $200- $500 or so. My recommendation would be the 70-300 IS lens. It is about $500. As Pooky says there are others but they will cost you thousands of dollars.

Depending on what you are willing to pay for. The 50-200 mm Canon lens is not too expensive ($300 or so). Or you can get one of their bigger zoom (100-400 mm zoom) but it costs five times that.
