Trouble getting my Canon Rebel Camera out of "Bulb" Mode?

I have a Canon Rebel Camera EOS and in the manual mode it will only go to Shutter Speed 30 and then automatically goes into "bulb" mode–why? How do I get this "bulb" mode shut off so I can move my shutter speeds beyond 30?
