Neither. Both are excellent cameras made by the two camera companies that make the cameras that the pros use.
Which one you choose will have to do with which fits your hands the best or which one is easiest to use when making changes in the cameras menu.
You can get a lot more bang for the buck if you spend $500 on the Nikon D40 with both a 18-55 mm and 55-200 mm VR.
No matter which camera you buy, you will be replacing it in three to five years due to advances it technology, but the lenses will last for decades.
