Yes, a successor to the 400D is due in February. It will (most likely) be announced during the PMA show which is held between Jan 31st-Feb 2nd in Las vegas…
The successor (450D?) will probably have at least 12MP and maybe live view.
So you need to be just a little patient ( for about 12-14 days at the very least).
