Robert asks…

Which is best Canon Rebel T2i, T1i, T3i?

I’m going to buy one, but which one has the best video and photo quality, and which ones have auto focus?

rob answers:

They all have autofocus. The T1i has the lowest photo quality out of these three (it is still very good though). The T2i and T3i have the same photo quality, both 18 megapixels. These two have the same video quality also, however, the T3i has a swivel screen which makes it a LOT easier to take video and pictures. Hope this helps! :)

Steven asks…

What Canon camera to upgrade too after Canon Rebel T1i?

I have a small business/hobby to help me get by while I am in college. I have used a Canon Rebel T1i for the past year and a 1/2. I would like to become more professional and have sharper photos. Not only for my clients, by for my own personal interest. I am not sure how long I will have my company, or if I will ever make it but right now I am doing well and want to up my prices and get some new gear. What Canon would you think is best for a small wedding/family portrait photographer? What lens would you want to buy for it? And just an extra question, what softbox and indoor lighting equipment do you prefer?

You can view my photos here, however I am not looking for critique or rude words. I am not claiming to be a professional wedding photographer by any means. I am just myself. :)

rob answers:

From the Rebel you want to jump to the Canon 7D. It has actually received higher ratings than the camera body just above.

I shoot with a 18-200mm IS lens, Canon 580EX II flash, with a Custom Brackets Pro M bracket and an external Qflash triggered with a pocket wizard.

As far as lights are concerned, since you are shooting weddings I would stay portable with either Quantum or Lumedyne lighting.

Michael asks…

nikon d3100 or canon rebel t1i?

I’m looking to buy a new slr camera, but i can’t decide which one to get?
what do you recommend? i’m looking for picture quality and just whatever brand is best?

rob answers:

Between the two the Nikon D3100 is a lot better.

but before you choose which unit, you first need to choose which system because later on you will be buying a lot of things for your unit, and units can be replace and will be replaced. But accessories like lenses will be there to stay longer in you.

Mark asks…

Canon rebel t1i questions?!?

Hello, I was wondering, is there a difference between the Canon rebel t1i and the Canon EOS 500D?
It seems to me like they are the same cameras, but i am still not positive.

Also, with buying this camera, what is the best lens for taking videos?

Thank you for your time.

rob answers:

I would opt for a lens with a constant max aperture, such as the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 EX DC (not the OS version) as this has a good everyday range, a nice shallow depth of field at 50mm for portraiture, good useable wide angle and the aperture won’t change as you zoom.

Canon Rebel T1i Help!?

I just got my t1i in may, and sometimes when Im shooting -for example I’ll have it on Av mode, but then it will randomly switch to CA, when i turn the dial it does nothing, it will stay at the ca menu screen, sometimes when its like that ill try to turn it off but it wont even turn off, so i have to take the battery and the memory card out – and when i put them back in its okay for a little while.

anyone have a fix!? I have the four year unlimited best buy warranty, should i just bring it in there?
Thanks

rob answers:

Sounds like you have a faulty one!

Take it back to be fixed/replaced under warranty
