Sharon asks…
Why is there 2 types of Canon 600D/Rebel T3i camera?
there is a camera with the 600D symbol, and there is one with the Rebel T3i symbol
i think the 600D looks “cleaner” than the “Rebel T3i” as in the name. i dont know. i just like the words 600D on the camera rather than the “Rebel T3i”
why is there 2 versions of this camera? and ARE there really more than one version?

rob answers:
Your answer is hidden within your question!
You write that you have a preference for one of the names 600D.
Advertising and product development spend millions to analyze consumer demographics and their preferences, taboos, etc.
When you really think of it, why would there be anything other than Model 1, 2, 3, etc.
In this particular case, Rebel T3i, is intended to appeal to North American consumers on a psychological level containing inferences to individuality (Rebel) and tech geeky-ness (T3i).
Europeans tend to be more orientated to the technology side of things, 600D fits their preferences better.
If you really want to see this in action, look at vehicle names on a few models sold world-wide.

Helen asks…
Canon T3i Rebel Video File Format…?
I was wondering if you had a Canon T3i Rebel and you were filming something with the video aspect of the camera (it films in.mpeg) can you still put it into Final Cut Pro 6 and edit it or do you have to convert it to a .mov file format?

rob answers:
Yes, you need to convert it to mov. Use a tool to do the conversion task.
The best and most reliable video converter tool that I’ve ever used is a tool called Video Converter . It’s able to convert all videos between various formats. Easy to use and professional.
You should really give it a try. You may check out at:

Best of luck.

David asks…
Is the Canon Rebel T3i a good camera?
And how is it better to the other generations like the T3, T2i etc.

rob answers:
It’s great. I mean questions like these won’t result in best answers..Someone might say no, someone yes. That can’t help at all right
?
T2i is actually using the same sensor, but comes without the articulating screen which is 99% useless anyways. So it would be a better buy, you save like $100 if you shop at Amazon and B&H!

Canon T3i Rebel 600D Square Lens Hood?
i have a Canon T3i Rebel (600D) with a 50mm f/1.8 lens , I would really like a sqaure lens hood but having no luck finding one , do they even exists for this DSLR with this lens? i found some on eBay but they probably wont fit , i mean i could tape it to my lens :/ any help would be greatly appreciated http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/58mm-Hood-Shade-Square-Canon-18-55mm-75-300mm-lens-/320759527712?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4aaec1f920

rob answers:
Except for certain video camera lenses and Cokin P series filters system, the only square lens shades were Leitz Summaron 28mm Soobk lens hood used on the M series rangefinder cameras. There may be others, but those are the only ones I have ever used.
I would be skeptical of any one selling a lens hood that is supposed to provide coverage on to such divers lenses, the 18-55 (wide angle to medium telephoto) AND a 70-300 mm medium telephoto to long telephoto lens … If you just think about it, it will make sense to you.
NOTE: Unless the camera has internal focusing, the square lens hood would rotate as the lens focused.
I suggest you just buy the lens hood made for your lens by Canon. Canon ES-62 Lens Hood with Hood Adapter 62 for EF 50mm f/1.8

Mary asks…
Thinking of getting the canon rebel t3i?
should i get it? or should i get the nikon d5100

rob answers:
The Canon will still give you better manual control over video and audio in the T3i with full manual exposure control when shooting. The Nikon uses a great sensor though with great photographic results. The Nikon D5100 is a very small body camera so if you have small hands or want a more portable camera, you may love the feel a bit more. The canon, though still small, is slightly larger and may feel more comfortable to those used to dslr cameras. They are both great cameras though.
BHPhoto does have the Canon T3i kit which is a step up on a huge sale for $899 including $400 worth of magic bullet editing software for free. Http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/753762-REG/Canon_5169B003_EOS_Rebel_T3i_Digital.html
Might help make a decision easier for you.
